The 2019 vintage of the Napa Valley Petite Sirah, an American Heritage Grape was grown in well drained alluvial soils nested on the valley floor in the Rutherford AVA of Napa Valley.
Historical vineyard clones Quixote and Martini are planted to vine on the Carpy Connolly Ranch in the Rutherford AVA at the belt of the Napa Valley. Theses dense clusters create a redolent, masculine wine with lingering depth and a firm mid palate. Aging in Hungarian oak M+ was selected protocol to impart a unique dimension influencing the tertiary aroma of black fruit, blueberry, holiday spice, dark chocolate, baked cobbler, salumi, cardamom, long pepper, current and black olive.
This wine was hand harvested, sorted by hand then thinned once again for quality by Selectiv’ optical sorting technology. The berries were cold soaked for 3 days to intensify color while moderating harsh tannins. Fermentation on native yeast in small bins using twice daily hand punch down method followed for three weeks. The must was gently pressed off and fermentation continued in barrel until dry. Aged in 30% new Hungarian Oak for 28 months then bottle aged an additional 2 years before release. Bottled Unfiltered and unfined with natural Lafitte cork.
